Short Messages from Sringeri Jagadgurus:
Sringeri Jagadguru explains Adi Shankaracharya is Saakshaat Shankara (Shiva) Rupa (Kannada):
In the Anugraha Bhashanam during Sri Adi Shankaracharya Ashtottara-Shatanama-Parayana Yajna, Sringeri Jagadguru explained the Greatness of the 108 Names of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Jagadguru mentioned that by reading the Shankara Vijaya and works of various other scholars about Shankaracharya, we all have been able to gain fair knowledge about Him. However, if a person, without having read the aforementioned granthas, attempts to understand the Shankaracharya Ashtothara Shathanamavali in the right perspective, he will be able to derive the same amount of knowledge that he would have obtained by reading the other works. These Ashtothara Naamas are therefore a repository of knowledge.
To start with, if we ponder over the first basic question of who exactly Shankaracharya is, the naama
साक्षाच्छङ्कररूपधृते नमः
(sākṣācchaṅkararūpadhr̥tē namaḥ) - 17
answers it. It says Shankaracharya is the very incarnation of Lord Parameshwara, the dweller of Kailasha.
